For the uninitiated, Drag the River are self described as a "Country & Midwestern"
band. Transplanted from Missouri, the band resides in Colorado comprising of the talents of Chad Price (of ALL), Jon Snodgrass (of Armchair Martian, Scorpios), JJ Nobody (of NOBODYS) & Dave Barker (of Pinhead Circus). Drag The River began in 1996, when Chad was playing in ALL and Jon was rocking in Armchair Martian. The two wanted an outlet for the more laid-back, country-influenced songs they were both writing. They are one of those bands that manage to transcend the confines and boundaries of the musical world and become more like a legend. There’s something about their haunting croon and fuzzed-out Telecasters that make everything fit together so perfectly, hitting that same elusive mix of rock n’ roll and alt-country that The Replacements defined and so many others have tried to cop.
They have shared the stage with:
Frank Turner, Jim Ward, Murder By Death, Cheap Girls, Nothington, Drive By
Truckers, Austin Lucas, Larry & His Flask, Chuck Ragan and are alumni of the Revival
Tour. The Dropkick Murphys, Gogol Bordello, Throwrag, The Groovie Ghoulies, The Ergs!, Tim Barry, Ninja Gun, Son Volt, Two Cow Garage, Limbeck, Dwight Yoakam, Spoon, Rocky Votolato, Owen, The Reverend Horton Heat, Deer Tick, and Joey Cape. They’ve been pretty busy over the last decade.

- Band announces GROEZROCK appearance + Amsterdam headline show in May -
On the heels of a raucous December tour in Europe and the UK, Larry and His Flask have already set their sights on returning to these shores in May 2014. The band will be playing GROEZROCK as well as headlining Paradiso in Amsterdam, with many more shows to be confirmed shortly.
NEWLY ANNOUNCED MAY 2014 TOUR DATES:
02-May-2014: Meerhout (BE) @ Groezrock
22-May-2014: Amsterdam (NL) @ Paradiso (Tickets to go on sale Wednesday 18th December)
In addition to their just-completed run, the five-piece from Oregon, USA memorably supported Frank Turner and The Sleeping Souls in the UK earlier this year in support of their latest album BY THE LAMPLIGHT (Xtra Mile Recordings), and looks forward to raising the roof again when they return this coming Spring.

For the uninitiated, Larry and His Flask make music that lies somewhere between a barn raising and a mosh pit. The New York Times calls them "uncommonly joyous" and "deviously astute", while their live show is a "breathless, polymorphous good time." Originally conceived as a four piece punk band, the group has swelled into a fully realized line-up with strong Americana influences complete with stand-up bass, mandolin and banjo. Their live act is not to be missed - unlike any other band playing music today, Larry and His Flask truly incorporate their audiences into each show, connecting to create an experience that converts everyone into fans and permeates the border between performer and spectator. Performances see members careening wildly across the stage with instruments, narrowly avoiding harrowing collisions amongst themselves and frequently trading said instruments mid-song while still maintaining pitch-perfect 4-part harmonies.

“As expected and hoped for, we’re treated to more lashings of old time country tropes reconfigured through the equalizing lends of punk rock. It’s truly riveting stuff…” - 9 out of 10 review in Rock Sound (UK)

Welcoming - Algiers to the roster!
Xtra Mile Recordings are excited to announce the signing of new band Algiers to the ever-growing family and will be releasing their debut album early 2014. Signing the contract just a few minutes before they took to the stage at our 10th Anniversary gig at The Monarch in Camden back in September, we can now finally reveal their debut album ‘You’re The Captain’ will be out 27thJanuary 2014 along with the single ‘Mother’ out 3rd February 2014.
Algiers, a 2 piece from Sheffield, started after a chance meeting in a bar between drummer John W Goodwin and guitarist/vocalist William K J Anderson. After realising who one another was (both were big fans of the others previous band; The Maple State and Dartz! respectively)and after a couple of months of threatening to have a jam together, the twofinally came together for a rehearsal and started playing around with some ideas. This one rehearsal turned into 4 months of collaboration and a musical bond and partnership was born.
Not knowing any bass players who would fit with what they were coming up with, they settled as a two piece and with a common ground in their fondness for indie-rock bands such as Death Cab for Cutie, American Football, The Weakerthans and The Walkmen, they set about writing songs, focusing their compositions on standard pop-song formulas; relying more on melody and simpler structures than their previous bands. The result is a sound that’s both heady and visceral. A sound that feels weightless and timeless with wandering guitars and heart on sleeve vocals.
